Need more call volume from Droid X!!!

Just picked up a Droid X as my first Android phone after years of Blackberries. I LOVE this phone, beautiful screen, fast, great capabilities.

Where I'm having trouble, however, is with the call volume on the phone from the earpiece. I need it just a notch or two louder. The phone is in a Trident Kraken case and I removed the dust covers from the earpiece and the speaker on the case which helped, a little, but it's still a little too low.

I had great hopes for the Volume+ and Equalizer apps, but neither seemed to help. Volume+ seemed to have no effect on the phone whatsoever.

Running stock ROM on .605, rooted.

Any help appreciated! This could be a dealbreaker for me - I use the phone frequently while I carpool and I can barely hear the caller over the road noise!

Thanks!

Well if you're using it in the car alot how about a Bluetooth? I use the plantronics Voyager, no issues at all. Right to your ear, should make you hear better. Although during a carpool I could easily see anyone having issues w hearing. Unless you're allowed to elbow your fellow passenger into quiet submission, lol.

For an app to make sure my phone is at the loudest I use Audio Manager, I like it because of the slider system for all vol situations in the phone. I can set them individually or all across the board.

Try disabling the "Voice Privacy" or "Enhanced Voice Privacy" or whatever it's called in the "Call Settings" menu. I'm on CM7 so I don't remember exactly what it was called in the stock Moto setup. It is supposed to scale the volume based on how much ambient noise there is, but I always found it made calls too quiet.
