A few weeks ago I went through the root process and everything seemed fine. I've been trying out a few different roms without much issue but I hadn't tried any apps that required root access. Once I did, I found that no programs can gain root access. I don't know if this is a permissions issue or something else.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check your app drawer. If you have the Superuser app, then you're most likely rooted. If not, you'll have to go through the rooting process again.

you need superuser permissions. flash a rom with it included. If you can flash a rom, then you are definitely rooted. You cannot change the recovery image without having root access.

Yeah, I'm running the most recent version of fresh so I have superuser in my app drawer. Am I correct that I'm supposed to go to the sdk\tools folder and
adb shell
su
run program needing root which should prompt superuser to ask permission

I've tried that and nothing happens. I completely get how superuser is supposed to work but through hours of searching I'm totally baffled on how to get it to work.

when you adb shell you willl see the command prompt. is it $ or #. if its $ and you su <enter> then the prompt should change to #.

when I run adb shell I already get the #. Is it possible my problem is something with the ROM? Maybe try a new install or different ROM?

Finally got it working. Tried a different ROM and everything is working great. Not sure why it wasn't working before, I did everything that was suggested. Thanks for all the help.
