Read all the manuals and forums and need a little more guidance. I'm a longtime iPhone user who just switched to the Incredible.

I have dragged and dropped music and photos from computer to phone, but have no idea if I put it in right place. When the phone mounted, it displayed two disk images on my computer. I opened each and have no clue which one is the SD card and which one is the internal memory. So I just created Music, Pictures and Video files and dragged to one of them.

The music and photos are on the phone, but when I look into AstroFile Manager I can't find them on the SD card, and, in fact, can't seem to find them anywhere.

I know this is easy to do, but I'm missing something.

Sounds like you dragged them to the wrong one. Have you tried moving them to the other "drive"?

Easiest way to check which is which is to look at the size of each. The internal is about 6.6 GB and the external is whatever size your microSD card is (the one they give you is 2gb). Rename each drive to internal or external. Putting the videos on the external will allow astro to see it.

The Droid Incredible (at least both of them that I saw) seem to have the second drive as a mirror of the first, same structure of folders.

This makes for a huge mess for Joe User, putting things in the wrong place, filling the primary storage with music and pictures while the MicroSD card goes un-used.

They weren't my phones, so I didn't feel right about trashing some of the user-fillable folders on the primary drive (music for instance), leaving only the Music on the MicroSD card.
