Ok, so I do not want to wait any longer on a Passion, or Bravo, Nexus One, or whatever, I played with a friends Droid extensively and I really want to get one. (it seems plenty fast for me) The problem is that I signed a 2 year contract with Vzw in August to get the BOGO blackberry storm 9530. Since I signed my contract in August I will only have to pay a $175 ETF. I have 2 questions if I cancel the one line that My storm is on and keep the other line then just add a line and use it to get the droid at $199 would it be worth it? I also have a Walmart Credit card and can get the Droid through them with no contract for $500 but I will still be under contract with verizon.

What I really want to know is the Droid worth spending a minimum of $375 to get and can I cancel 1 line and add the droid and still get it for $199?

the worth is really up to you as it's your value system.

cancelling a line and adding a new one (i'm assuming to an existing account because of your wording) is not a problem and you can do that to get a droid at 199 (plus the ETF for cancellation).

if you buy it out of contract for some reason, you can always just go to verizon and have them activate it on the line the storm is on, the contract will remain intact just the device will change.

yes you can, but what heres what i did..i already had a family plan, and a storm 9530, i obtained an older vzw phone from a friend, i then went to vzw and added a line, got the droid for the new line price (at the time it was $299 with a $100 mail in rebate). i then had vzw put the old phone on the new line of service, and had the droid put on my number that the storm was on. this way the only extra charge is $10 a month for the new line, then i sold the storm for $225 lol.. its a nice alternative over having to pay a etf and $10 a month extra is way better than paying that crap lol

That is actually more expensive in the long run. The ETF for me will only be $175 $10/month over 24 months is $240. If I did the ETF I would not have to worry about the $10 per month because I would then only have 2 lines instead of 3

And your ETF would be prorated ($175-$5/month) so it'd only be about $155 or so.

Wow I can't believe I forgot about that. Does anyone know if verizon will wave the activation fee if I tell them that online websites offer the phone with no activation fee

doubt it. They pretty much stick with the activation fees and mail-in debit cards. You may get them to throw in a dock and charger or something though.

So I think I've pretty much decided that I'm going to add a line and then cancel my current line and pay the etf as that will be my lowest cost way of doing things, but because of VZW's new etf fee I may have to just go with the new number and lose my number that I have now because of canceling the line. I guess my question is can I add a line and get a Moto Droid then switch the numbers so that my current number is on the Droid, then cancel the BB Storm1 line for the lower $175 etf or should I just take the new line and number on the droid and cancel the original line and number. I know it sounds confusing but if anyone can understand what I'm trying to say and give me some advice I would appreciate it.
