Hey guys. I have been a long time cell phone addict. I have had very many android phones. About 37 Android phones to be exact in the last 7 years. My problem is I just recently switched back to an iphone about a month ago and I am rocking a iphone 6 that is jail broken. I actually really like this phone for right now with my line of work. The phone just works for me right now. I always love android but this iphone is really keeping my interest. The past Iphones I have had I have gotten bored with in about 3 months. My issue is I am starting to really be intrigued by the smart watches. All the good smart watches are currently on Android. And I am not really sure the Apple Watch would be that great or even look good on a project manager for a construction company.

So my question is. I really like the looks and specs of the LG G watch R. Would it be worth switching back to android just for a dang watch? It sounds really stupid to me in my head. I mean I really love my Iphone right now but it sounds like the apple watch is going to be the only true smart watch that will work with it. The only thing I really want a smart watch for is to not have to take my phone out of my pocket so much to see what notifications I have when on jobsites and then the other big reason is to be able to use a golf application and be bale to know my distance to the whole on the watch.

Please give me some feedback on what yall would do in my situation because I can't make up my mind haha.

Thanks guys,

Cole

I have always been a fan of buying electronics that suit your needs. if u like ur phone so much, the first thing I think u should do is find an android phone that has the features ur current phone has. or close enough that u can live with it. lollipop is still buggy so if it is the os u like, well ur out of luck. if u can find a phone then I say dive in, watches are a plenty and lots of style. I feel the apple watches will be like other apple products, overpriced and not that many features on the watch os off the bat.

Check out the Pebble. I think that works with iOS and should suit your needs.

If you want to keep your iPhone 6 and still have a smartwatch for notifications and things NOW, why not look into a Pebble or Pebble Steel?

They both work with iOS & Android (in case you switch back at some point) and I've personally been impressed with how much of a beating my original pebble has taken and still continue to work perfectly. Being in construction, I figure you would want a durable smartwatch, as well. Don't get me wrong, the watch will get scratched up if you beat it up, however it still works and doesn't break (in my experience at least).

The pebble doesn't quite have the looks or voice commands of the LG G Watch R, but they are much cheaper and you could keep your iPhone.

Just my .02...

Another vote for the pebble steel - I love mines. I currently have mine paired to my Note 4 but I know it works well with Apple devices too. The Pebble steal doesn't look like a smart watch, that's why I like it.

Ya I have looked at the Pebble steel for the last week or so. I like that it is waterproof. Do yall think more watches will come out that will work with both platforms?

Especially after the release of the Apple watch, I'm sure it is inevitable that more wearables are going to come out for iOS and may be cross-platform as well. The big questions there are when and will they be any good?

The "premium" price point that the Apple watch is positioned at leaves a large opening for someone to produce a cheaper smartwatch for iPhone users that don't want to spend at least $349.

I guess the question is how badly do you want a smartwatch and how long are you willing to wait?

I don't have a Steel, but I have an original Pebble and don't regret picking one up.
