Ok, can someone please tell me where the setting is for the lock screen to eliminate the standard widgets that were there originally, like the phone, stock text, email and camera!? The problem is her home screen on the bottom when the phone is not locked is completely different then the locked screen...She just wants the screen to have a wallpaper pic and no widgets at all...

I hope I'm understanding you correctly. I've got a Stratosphere I, and on my screen when I push the power button to wake it up there's a lock icon, the time and date, and nothing else but the "Swipe screen to unlock" message. Behind that, I see a somewhat dimmed version of my wallpaper; no widgets, shortcuts, etc., at the bottom. Once I swipe to unlock it, 4 icons appear at the bottom of all of the 5 home screens: Phone, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications. These are the Primary Shortcuts (as the user manual calls them). Is something like that what your wife is seeing?

It is possible to replace or eliminate those primary shortcuts, except for the Applications one. From the Home screen, touch Applications, then press the Menu Key, then touch Edit. Now it gets a little tricky, but it's actually fairly easy once you have the concept. Touch and hold any application icon, then drag it down over one of the primary shortcuts and keep holding it. The primary shortcut will migrate up amongst the application icons. Still holding down on whatever app icon you were dragging, drag it back up among the app icons where it originally was. It will stay there, and the primary shortcut you were "replacing" will stay there too. Repeat for the other primary shortcuts. When you're finished, press the Menu Key, then touch Save. Go back to the Home screen, and you should be without the primary shortcuts. However, you will not be able to do this with the Applications/Home shortcut/icon itself, and that may well not be satisfactory.

I hope this is something close to what you were wanting to do. Of course, if she has a Strat II, things may be somewhat different.

Humm, Thanks Dave..I'll have to give it a try next chance I get, hopefully there not to much of a difference between the strat1 and 2 and it will work...

Personal owner of a strat 2 - go to settings then go to security. There you will find 'lockscreen' click that and you should be able to change those apps or remove them all together

Worked like a charm, thanks a bunch...

Sounds like the Strat 2 made a big improvement in this regard. Glad Caleb was able to check in with current info.

No problem! Btw how do you like the strat?

I like it well. This is my first Android phone (previous smartphones were Palm Treos), and I wanted a physical keyboard. The salesman told me that most of his customers told him that after a week or two they never used the slider, just the on-screen keyboard. Right. I find typing more than a few words onscreen (and I've tried several keyboard apps) to be a chore. The slide-out keyboard makes the phone for me. I know lots of folks have had troubles with call quality, charging, screens breaking, and other issues, and I've certainly had times when it was hard to maintain a 4G signal, which could be due to the phone or to Verizon's network, I can't be sure. Over all, though, it's been a good experience. No better than "good," though -- nothing sensational, and I do think Samsung could have done way better quality control with this phone.

thanks! it was a big help to me too!
Also, how do I access the apps that I have stored on my SD card that I moved from my old phone?
