Need some help

I have the original Galaxy note and it is having an issue with the lock screen. Once it locks it takes six or seven swipes to unlock it. Even on a phone call it will lock and I cant get it to unlock to end the call. The only way it seems to work is once I plug the phone into a charger. Very very frusterating. Anyone know why this is doing this all of a sudden?
