Need some upgrading advice

Am I mistaken to think that Best Buy's or Comcast's (or both) deals mentioned something about waving an activation fee?

That was a special promotion and yes on Black Friday weekend, activation fee was waived, including Comcast deal. Upgrade fee was not waived though.

In case you didn't know, activation fee is charged for new line of service only.

Those are no longer waivable by reps. I don't think even retention can do it. They used to be but not any more.

I think that they can be waived under limited circumstances. For example, if Verizon canceled your order or if your phone was stolen in transit, and your original order was placed during the no activation fee promotion period. When you place a new order for the same phone on the same line, my guess would be that you could get verizon to waive the fee.

Even that has limitations. If you ordered two years ago, then Verizon probably wouldn't honor it.

sure if there was a problem with an order that originally qualified for a corporate promotion for free activation, that would make sense. But gone are the days when a sales rep could do it just to keep you happy and even retention can't do it now.
