Hi,
I need to connect a business card scanner to my Android mobile. It is required for sales force automation where sales team is required to scan a business card & send it thru 3G immediately. It is very cumbersome to carry a netbook & mobile business card scanner hence I am looking for this option. Also I have tested with the Business card scanning apps available for Android. I need a very clear scan with about 300 DPI which I guess is possible only with a proper scanner. Is this actually possible? The connection maybe wired or wireless.
If not to a mobile, can we connect a business card scanner to an android powered tablet?

I can scan cards with google goggles and it will give me a option to add to contacts... not sure if that helps any

Hey hi guys, I have tried the app way of achieving the results, it is fine with me but to equip a sales force of 100+ guys & to take care that they all click pictures of bcards with a steady hand is almost impossible. So I need to devise a way which reduces the scope for human error as much as possible. So if u guys get any novel ways to tackle this problem do post here. Any body keen to take this up as a freelance project can contact me. We can work out mutually beneficial terms.

Hi,

I work for Accusoft (full disclosure) where we recently released a new app that allows you to hook a USB scanner up to an Android device. It works for a large number of mobile scanners. Not sure about biz card scanners, though I think some may be supported (we use SANE as our scanner driver). You can find it on the Play store, just search for Accusoft USB Scanner. There is a fully functional Trial version that will let you test out your tablet and scanner. If you have any problems or questions, you can contact us at ScanAppSupport at Accusoft dot com
