Need to get factory USB C cable

The current USB C cable I'm using works most of the time for Android auto. Every so often, android auto decides it won't start. Every time I ask about this, the very first question I get asked is if the cable I'm using is the original one. Where can I get an original USB c cable for the S8?

You shouldn't need the OEM cable, so long as it's compliant with the USB C standard. Most of them are complaint nowadays.

Well, the USB cable is for android auto and on several instances android auto decides it doesn't want to start.

Happened to be near the car dealership when this happened and the first thing they asked was if I was using the OEM cable. Even Google's android auto support team asks if I'm using an original cable.

The one I currently have works most of the time.

They always want you to use OEM stuff, but it shouldn't be necessary. One reason is to make more money for the OEM, but also quality control is theoretically better. In the real world, there is no proprietary difference between that cable and any other cable compliant with the various USB standards. Asking if you were using the OEM cable is basically number 2 in the diagnostic checklist. Right behind asking if you tried restarting it. It doesn't mean much, but there's the tiniest of chances that fixes the problem.

Honestly, the Samsung OEM cable is cheap, with connection shells that are prone to splitting apart at the seams. It hasn't happened to my S8 yet, but we've had an S2 and S4 in the family, and on both sets of cables that came with the phone, the hard plastic shells around the connector split apart after a year. Yeah, superglue helped, but didn't last.

Got a set of Amazon Basics USB cables (and a couple USB-A to USB-C cables for my S8), and those are much sturdier. The wire sheath is a bit thicker too. In fact, I'm surprised how thin the OEM cable actually is.

I'm not 100% sure if it's real OEM the seller could be a liar but with his/her 99% review scores and so many sold I'm gonna say it's a real OEM cable
