Netfilter/Kernel fix?

Hi! tried to figure this out myself, keep hitting a wall:

-moto droid running 2.2, rooted
-build FRG01B
-kernel version 2.6.32.9-g103d848 android-build@apa26 #1

Want to use Access-Control feature of android-wireless-tether. When it is enabled there is no net traffic, nothing will load. When Access Control is disabled everything works just fine.

The comments in a thread posted by someone else on the developer's website here details my EXACT problem and the mod replied with:
"the problem you're having isn't a problem with the application, it's with your kernel. It was configured and compiled without all of the necessary netfilter options.

Walking you through the steps is a little out of the scope of this project, but you need to make sure that the kernel configuration includes both
CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_MAC=y
and
CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_MULTIPORT=y"

- I have no idea how to configure the kernel to include the above
- I don't even know where to begin

Someone please help? I'm relatively tech savvy, but my core experience and understanding hasn't evolved passed the windows 2000 era.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
