So what is everyone getting for max streaming resolution in Netflix? I'm stuck at 720p (checked using Test Pattern videos on Netflix). I've seen conflicting reports about this.

Using original firmware, never rooted or boot unlocked or anything like that. Using whatever version of Netflix is currently latest on Play Store and April Security Patch. Widevine L1 available on device.

I have no issues streaming 1440p on YouTube and 1080p on Amazon Videos.

Soundsl like an app issue on Netflix's end. Have you checked the stream settings? I believe it is set to auto regarding output. Maybe there is a manual stream setting option.

Interesting that Anje gets 1080p in his review : https://youtu.be/ZQVOAEExdSw

I'm using the same test video and I only get 720p. Hello even if I download it using the high quality setting it still shows only 720p.

There might be some regional differences, I know he's in Germany.

I've been looking into this; apparently the same is true of Chrome and Firefox browsers. This has to do as much with Netflix as with anything else.

I can add an extension to Chrome to "fool" netflix into allowing 1080p. And of course Safari handles it natively, although on my 2017 MacBook Pro (very nice bit of hardware) it stutters on the test pattern video--while Chrome, with the extension, does not (symmetrical gigabit fiber here).

Don't expect this to go anywhere or change anytime soon, is my opinion.

Or, you could do this:
