Netflix not yet compatible with Thunderbolt?! Rage.

I don't think official gb is too far off from what I am hearing from my contacts ay VZW. I have been told just to sit tight and not root until after gb.
Of course that will last a few weeks and I will be looking to root. Das bamf looks promising.

Once the official GB update comes out, it's going to take time to root it. If you root now, you have your choice of several GB roms with Sense 3.0, which I have been running for almost a month now and really enjoy. I am having a hard time "downgrading" to Froyo or any sense below 3.0. As far as bricking goes, every time you start up ADB there is a CHANCE of bricking, no matter what you are trying to do. That's why we buy insurance, right?
So, I no longer care if Netflix ever makes it to the Thunderbolt because I cancelled my account. Raised fees with no added benefits = complete crap. But I wish you guys all the best and I'm sure that you will have the app once we have GB.

I would agree, but Netflix's streaming section is pitiful. There are hardly any new releases and all of the older movies that I would want to see, I have already seen. To me, there's no reason to have Netflix for just the streaming. And to get it just for the dvds is stupid, when there is redbox. Netflix took a gamble with these new prices and it is my opinion that they shot themselves in the foot.

It wasn't so much that they took a gamble as much as it was necessary. It's been known for awhile now that they have several licensing agreements coming up for renewal, now that studios know how well they are doing there is no doubt that those fees are going to go way up. With their overhead increasing that much they have to generate more revenue.

I realize and accept this. However, there are other ways of generating revenue apart from a 60% increase. They knew that this would result in cancellations (see the Netflix blog post conclusion informing people how to cancel their membership), and that's the one thing that they should not want right now. A small increase for the bundling of streaming and dvds and not losing a chunk of customers would have been much better.

You may be right, we will never know. In the end it's their business and lively hood so their decision to make. Obviously I would love for it to stay the same price, but for me it's still a great deal. It's nice people have an option with no contract and can cancel if they don't like the changes.

No one likes price increases.....but everyone likes pay raises.
Netflix is a company made up of lots of people, it's not a single greedy entity capable of shooting "it's self" in the foot.
Some say that Netflix has already been adding to their streaming catalogue. If that's the case, and if it continues, they will continue to do very well IMHO.
I'm dropping the Netflix DVD's by mail option only. Older movies or not, the streaming service is a life saver for me since I have a 2.5 year old son & they have a lot of kid movies/videos.
I will admit that if my phone (Droid X) weren't supported by the app, it would be a more difficult decision though.

Well, sometimes companies only have two choices - raise prices to pay their overhead and pay for growth or go out of business.
No one likes price increases.....but everyone likes pay raises.
Netflix is a company made up of lots of people, it's not a single greedy entity capable of shooting "it's self" in the foot.
To me, it is very hard to imagine that a large corporation would not realize that they are practicing an unsustainable business model resulting in them making such a drastic price increase in a short amount of time. If that disorganization exists in that company, than I am not sure that I want to continue to drop money in it, hoping that their streaming selection will get better. Greed or not, a price increase is a price increase; and if I felt that the additional money would have been worth it, I would have stayed.
