Same here, still using the last "unofficial" app. It works great and see no reason to mess with it.

I saved a backup of the "unofficial" app just in case, but the reason I updated to the "official" one is to get Market updates when they come available (like when the eventually allow management of the DVD queue from within the app).

The "official" app works on Froyo too, despite the description saying only 2.3 devices.

Try "RealHDMI" in the Market.

How is the resolution on the tv? My husband bought the multimedia dock for me and the HDMI cable, but I haven't used it yet... (newbie here)

The stock hdmi will only work for pictures and recorded videos. RealHDMI will allow you to watch anything on your phone to your tv.
Resolution is ok. Not the best but its not horrible.
