So I'm surprised nobody has tried this yet...

But has anybody attempted to install the Netflix APK that was leaked a day or two ago to see if it works and if the TB's proc has the DRM keys necessary to allow for streaming?

My phone won't here til tmrw or I'd try it myself

UPDATE: As of right now, the leaked apk does not seem to work. In XDA we trust ;)

In theory, it should. The Revolution and the Bolt use the same processor. Don't have one myself to test, though.

I have the file but I can't find where to put it to get the phone to find it. I put it on my sd card but I don't know where to put it on the card or what folder it needs to go in. Anyone know?

Go into Settings -> Applications -> and check the 'Unknown Sources' box

Then install a free file explorer from the market (like Astro) and then navigate to the Netflix apk file you put on your SD card and click it and it will ask you to install

Then try to load it up, log into your Netflix account (if you have the file I assume you are a Netflix subscriber) and see if you can stream

OMG I had no idea the APK was leaked. If no one tries this tonight I'm definitely going to do all I can to get it running tomorrow.

it won't work

they likely have permissions built in that the LG phone can verify with Netflix

Honestly, this has everything to do with LG being buddies with Netflix and nothing to do with the processor or other nonsense, IMO.

No it doesn't. It has to do with specific DRM attributes of the snapdragon that make it netflixs processor of choice for android.

So... No Netflix. No Skype.

Prototypes of this phone were out last August! How long does it take?? :p

Oh well, maybe we'll get it later. Either Netflix will turn "it" on, the wizards over at XDA will hack it to work, or VZW will release it in it's own due time (like Skype)

Title of thread updated accordingly

My bet is with the apk, XDA and, a root we'll have netflix.

Netflix is the single factor pulling me towards iphone and Win7

For me, it says "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists please visit netflix.com. (1011)" I feel like this is a good sign. Most people that have installed it on other phones say they have a blank white screen and have to hit the home button to get out of it. Here's to being hopeful!

installed and netflix looks great. however it can't connect when trying to watch a movie. I can't wait !

Any updates?

Not yet. After a lot of reading around it appears that we DO have the DRM keys that the app will require and that it is just a matter of Netflix "flipping the switch" and turning it on for us - whenever that will be
