Actually, you can either rent or own movies from the Media Hub. I purchased The Hangover and The Bourne Supremacy with my $25 gift card. I have access to them whenever I want...meaning the stock Video player will play them at my leisure. They are downloaded in PYV format. That might limit what you can do with the files. Haven't really looked into that yet.
I can tell you that the movies I purchased through the Media Hub cannot be viewed on your TV using the HDMI out connection that comes with the phone. I can't recall if you are allowed to play these via the AllShare app that comes with the phone. I'll have to test that out tonight.
Update: Movies purchased through Media Hub are not recognized as valid file types for the All Share app, and therefore cannot be played using that method.
