Sorry if this is in wrong area. I received a Galaxy S3 SCH-S968C its straight talk and runs off Verizon towers but it was soft bricked and i couldn't find firmware anywhere so i installed d2vzm firmware after reading i could and it worked. Now the prob is i cant get it to accept straight talk Sims so my question is if i get a Verizon Sim card such as 4glte card could i just go ahead and use the phone on Verizon network data and all? Model number now shows SCH-I535 and im running 4.3 also when i try to make a call i get a vocal Verizon error message. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you. :)

I am more confused after reading your post than when I started. This thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=308893
alludes to StraightTalk using GSM network settings for actual Verizon phones, and all the references seem to be using AT&T or T-Mobile SIMs.

Anyway, you're running a CleanROM build, which I'm unfamiliar with, and the Hardware version = S968C.01, which I'm also unfamiliar with - sorry. You might have better luck in the thread that I referenced or in the CleanROM area over on XDA.

Well, after some Google searching I see what you're describing - a CDMA-V phone by StraightTalk designed to use the Verizon network. I came across good rooting instructions, but no link to the original (4.1.2?) firmware. Also couldn't even find the device here, which is where I normally see the stock firmware.

I can't speak to the CleanROM firmware, but I'd suggest that you try using the Kies software (v2.6) to reload the stock firmware and then see if it behaves properly when you use the StraightTalk SIM.

Thank you for your reply. Now you see why im kinda screwed lol I have tried to link to kies but am met with "This Device Isn't Supported* every time. I've tried for days with different roms and tricks to get the phone out of its seemingly permanent CDMA state. I suppose i will just use as mp3 player etc thank you for your help tho :)

That's unfortunate about Kies - I guess StraightTalk hasn't worked with Samsung to get that support added.

From what I read the phone SHOULD be in CDMA mode, since that's what Verizon uses. Just puzzling that your StraightTalk SIM isn't recognized. Rather than using the CleanROM build you could try the stock 4.1.2 firmware from Verizon here.

Or see if you can find a source for the original firmware, perhaps on XDA. I've read that some Best Buy stores have a Samsung center where you can reload the firmware - perhaps see if there's one in your area?
