Sounds like you just may need a reboot.

I welcome you to try other phones -- They all have hiccups :P.

If I read the OP correctly s/he is having a problem with Bluetooth connectivity using a JBL Flip 3.
OP - have you tried any other Bluetooth devices (car; headphones; computer; etc)? Have you rebooted your phone, or tried running in Safe mode? I assume the JBL Flip 3 works fine with other phones that you have/had?

My guess is it's not showing up, then you are not properly putting the JBL 3 into pairing mode. I connect to many Bluetooth devices via Pixel 2 XL and didn't have any issues.
Do you have any other device to check if the JBL shows up as Bluetooth device to pair? If it doesn't then your aren't putting the device in pair mode. Also, did you try connecting to any other bluetooth device via Bluetooth?

As far as bugs it's literally no different than any other device. Literally any forum you go, you will see proven issue threads like this.

My flip 3 paired easily the first time and is recognized almost instantly by my 2xl. It you're following the pairing instructions and it won't connect, I'd try a factory reset. If it still doesn't work there's a 3 year warranty on the phone.

it's because JBL products are terrible. I haven't been able to use my JBL Xtreme via Bluetooth since my phones have been upgraded to Marshmallow. I spent hours with JBL customer service and they blame Android and the phone companies. I replaced it with a legitimate company's product and gave away my useless JBL.

These threads are always interesting and informative.

Will OP be back to bring us up to date?

Just found something on an Apple Site. In my case it was user error. If you naturally press and hold the Bluetooth button on my Clip2, it's accessing daisychain mode. Normal Bluetooth pairing is a single quick press of the bt button. Maybe the Flip is the same? Hope that helps.

the thing with some speakers is they can only be paired to so many devices before you have to reset the speaker.
