Neverending Eris Problems

Since the 2.1 update, my phone was cleared of its previous glitches but then developed new ones. It started off erasing my personalization settings, put it back to default. I also got random errors saying it was unable to log into a made up @youtube.com email account. I don't even have an account with youtube. I performed a factory wipe. Since the factory wipe, I only get about 2 hours into the phone (re-personalizing it) before it will freeze and restart over and over and over. I took the battery out and replaced it and pressed the "end" key to turn it on. It will start up like normal but then freeze at the lock screen and restart again. This cycle is nonstop. If it decides to stop restarting on its own and idles on the lockscreen, I will get a msg that the device needs to force close. I will close it, and it will restart again. I performed 2 more factory wipes at this point and keep getting the same symtpom.

I had verizon send me a replacement phone. I received my new/refurbished phone today and I was just 3 hours into re-personalizing my phone and it froze again on the home page and restarted itself. At this point I have no idea if any new glitches have popped up because I can't USE the phone.

I called Verizon. They only want to replace the phone as often as needed until the warranty expires or until my contract is ready for an upgrade. Inconvenient. They won't refund my money or replace the phone with a different HTC non-eris phone because "my warranty covers a replacement Droid Eris" only. I called HTC and they made me perform another factory reset. I told them I want a different phone or my money back. They said taht was up to Verizon.

My contract upgrade isn't ready for another 5 months. I think its ridiculous that I should have to play this game until my warranty expires or my contract upgrade is ready.

Does anybody have any tips for me so I can at the very least use my phone until my upgrade is ready? Has anybody else even heard of this happening?

Thanks in advance for your time and replies.

Since it keeps recurring with different handsets, perhaps you are running an app that is causing this problem? Is this happening even before you install apps, or after you reinstall the same ones?
