New 2.1 Gallery App

The new gallery app for 2.1 is starting to float around the interwebs.

Here are the instructions.
NOTE: This ONLY works for 2.0.1 and 2.0.

Installation

1. Download and extract (do not rename) gallery_flan.zip.
2. Copy the resulting gallery.apk file to your sdcard.
3. On your phone go to Settings, then Applications and enable Unknown Sources.
4. On your phone, use a file manager such as Astro to browse to the gallery.apk file. Tap the file and install it.
5. You will now have two Gallery applications listed in your launcher -- the second one is the flan port. Tap it to launch the application.

Tips

1. Try leaning your phone left and right while in the gallery application.
2. Get Rid of the duplicate Gallery app in your launcher by renaming the original Gallery.apk to Gallery.bak.

It's pretty dang sexy. There's some translucency action, some stacking action, some accelerometer/perspective action, and so on. I hope music gets something like this eventually.

I don't think so. The weather and news widget and app came through a week ago in the same way, and nothing bad happened from that.
