Agree. Making a slider water resistant would be an expensive undertaking.

It's not that difficult or that expensive, but yes it would add to the cost.

I question the use case for this device. It's aimed at enterprise users, but those folks are working from home using computers, so why would they need this device?

Need would be a stretch. It comes down to whether someone really believes a physical keyboard is a big advantage or just plain prefers it.

I don't know of any public information for either arguement but I do know based on some sliding keyboards designs I've seen that it wouldn't be that difficult. I run the QA and training program for over 400 engineers and any of my guys in R&D could do it. We don't make phones though and don't intend to but the electronics they design have to withstand all kinds of elements. Anyway, feel free to disagree but it's pretty irrelevant because water resistance won't make or break the sales of this device.

It is becoming more and more important to consumers though. If it's that easy, i think your engineers are missing out on an opportunity to greatly affect the smartphone market and make a lot of money.

I'm with you.... more or less. I bought the Passport, Priv, Motion, Key One, Key² and the Key²LE. That's a lot of $$ spent in a few short years. All of those phones are EOL, frozen in time. Now i have a Pixel 4a. Not only do I love the phone and the price paid, but how long it will be supported and updated. That is true value. If I ever do go back to BlackBerry it won't be until it has been around for several years, fully supported, and not cost an arm and a leg for diminishing returns.

Completely agree. The 4a brings true value and support, something no blackberry phone can provide.

Yes I do. Nearly two years now and still a fantastic device. Looking at the 7.3 now as the next upgrade. The Pixels are not on my radar as I cannot do without an SD card due to thousands of music files and photos.
