I am back for the second time to Android and have 3 questions:

1. How do I select multiple items for copy/move/delete? This is more for selecting files in the My Files app or apps like that where there are multiple items to manipulate.

2. There is an option to disable wifi during standby / disable unless charging / enable always. Does wifi use more power than the cell radio? I thought wifi used less juice. If wifi is disabled my sync items will be updated via 4G. I have it set to wifi always on. Let me know if my thinking is wrong on this.

3. I switched to Nova launcher on Saturday morning and it seems like my battery life has dropped a lot since switching. I have the same amount of widgets; clock/weather, yahoo finance, calendar, google voice. Is this to be expected or is there something I am missing?

I am really liking this phone and the customization it offers. I am, however dealing with a few quirks. I can't plug into my car USB port and play music through the stereo and use the vehicle audio controls. I plugged in the AUX in to my headset port, but now when making calls the caller's voice is on speaker instead of my BT headset and the phone mic is active. This happens even though my BT headset is connected.

It is also tough dealing with decreased battery life coming from the 4S. I know I have more screen real estate, which is the main reason I made the switch, and 4G (WOW). Until this weekend I thought the battery life was okay, but now I am a little concerned. It does show that Maps is using a lot of battery even though it is not an active app.

Sorry to ramble! Thanks for any help.

Not sure I can help on 1 or 2. For 3, did you remove the widgets, etc. from the touchwiz launcher? Failure to do so can run down your battery as they continue to run.

1. you can select multiple files using the "Astro" app available on the play store.

2. wifi should use less batteries than cell radio.

3. shouldn't affect battery life much, but maybe there was some setting that you changed. also, being in different areas may affect battery life. you can take a look to see what is using batteries to do a comparison.

this is my experience too! Funny thing when I went to get my GS3 in store the lady tried to tell me wifi uses more battery. I had to hold back my laughter and politely told her no, that it saves on battery and always has on all my phones!

why would verizon try to get everyone on wifi, if it didn't save battery? They are making a killing on tiered and shared data plans. They are trying to push wifi so people don't blame them when they use mobile data at home and rack up a huge bill and call Verizon,to complain.

I know dpham.... I think the lady was a little off or something! Lol I did feel like telling her to go check it out cause she was totally wrong, but I held back and just smirked after she tried to tell me yet again that wifi uses more battery and finished paying for my phone!
Even my hubby who knows nothing about phones and wifi.... Well technology in general said to me as we walked out. Umm wifi does save battery what is she on? Lol (he does have an iPhone)

Do note that we're still talking about the same people who recommend task killers and even try to install them in store.

Thanks! I'll give Astro a try. Glad to hear my thinking was right on wifi. It looks like the Android OS is the big battery hog other than the screen. I installed a brightness widget to control exactly what level I need depending on ambient light.
