(NEW) Amazon APP Store

I'm curious how this new store will handle updates. I for one can tell you their app review process is kind of long. Don't expect to see many updates come out in a short period.

I wonder if Amazon will ever combine all of their apps into one? Isnt this number 4?

Yeah, I read that too. They should change it to "Jerk Store" then George Costanza can sue them. ;)

Got an update on an app today. Took about 2 secs.

Did you get an update for an app you purchased on Amazon, or for the Amazon App Store itself? I got a Store update, but I'd love to know how Amazon handles individual app updates. Amazon apps don't appear in your Market list, so you can't update them there. Just wondering...

For an app I "purchased."

I downloaded Angry Birds Rio the other day when it was the free offer.
This morning the Amazon App Store App icon (sheesh, how many times can I say app in one sentence?) was in the notification bar.
I pulled down the screen and it said I had an update for an app.
I clicked it, and bam, it asked me if I wanted to install the update for Angry Birds Rio.
I clicked install and about 2 secs later the app was updated.

Does this ridiculously long, over-the-top explanation help? haha... can you tell I have young kids? ;)

I have young kids, as well... that's why your explanation made perfect sense to me!

Well that answers a lot of questions... so far, Amazon's update systems seems much better than the Market. Thanks!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. It's taking entirely too long for Amazon to review/accept my app. Hopefully that's just on the initial submission and once it's accepted they process updates faster..

I've got 4 apps on the Android Market that were accepted almost instantly and updates go through rather quick as well.

We'll see if Amazon speeds up as they grow, as it would be nice to have another sales outlet, but right now it doesn't seem too worthwhile. (At least from my point of view.) :)

Why would I want to give my credit card number to download free apps? I am not giving my credit card info for downloading free apps. such bs

That doesnt bother me. Technically google has your credit card info as well when you download free apps through the android market since you enter it when you first sign up. They keep it in file and when you go to purchase a paid app the info automatically comes up for you unless you want to use a different card then you have the add a card option.

What does bother me is some apps on amazon are paid apps when they are free apps on android market. That means having to check both places for the best price if you find something you really want. No different than going to a few stores and checking prices for things but still a tad annoying.

Today's free app is SwiftKey, a keyboard app. I already have it and highly recommend it.

That's happened to me with a couple of these so far. I guess I have good judgment picking apps? ;) :D

Does it make me cheap for downloading apps I don't want while they're free just in case I want them later? LOL.
