Hey all...HTC One is my first Android phone. Admittedly, I've been using iPhone since its inception. So far so good other than a few nuances (ie. screen not waking for incoming texts, must use power button to wake phone).

Please check out these screenshots:

For whatever reason, it looks like when I shut down my phone at night (from about 10pm - 6am), the phone is awake and the screen is on. Do I have this correct? If so, it explains the 5%-10% drop in battery overnight. After this, I'm considering leaving the phone on stand-by!

if you know what's going on or if you have any suggestions, your assistance is appreciated!

Welcome to android central! It is always a pleasure to see new users around, even more so when they are new to android. It does in fact seem like your phone is awake with screen on all night. Can you check your settings for me and see what your screen timeout is set at? This can normally be found under settings, display.

I'd use one of those watchdog apps to determine the offending process but what amazes me is the less than expected drain on battery the screen on caused. I would have thought it would be much worse.

Here's after it was powered off last night. Woke up today and saw the phone still shows its awake, but the Screen On is randomly no longer occurring.

Can you check your power stats and see what the top users are? That might help us determine who the culprit is and how to stop it. I had a similar issue, with Google maps.

Under Power-->Usage, top 5:
Messages...20%
HTC Sense...16%
Android System...6%
Android Central...6%
Internet...6%

Obvious solution first, just to see, can you check your developer options and let me know if there is a "stay awake" option enabled. This will keep the phone awake while charging.

This option can also be found under display on my phone where you change the sleep settings.

Also, just reboot the phone if you haven't already to clear cache and etc. There's an app that's keeping your phone awake, determine what apps you've downloaded recently and go into settings> apps> slide to running and see what apps are there that's been running the longest. Tap on them and tap stop. After you've done that, reboot phone. See if that helps.

Ok, so Jennifer--I couldn't find the setting you were talking about. I don't see it under the Display or Developer options. The screen isn't staying awake though...it shuts typically after 15 seconds (due to Auto Sleep).

I find it odd that it says the screen is on when the phone is completely shut down.

Gator, here are a couple of screenies of my running apps. When I reboot the phone, the same apps were running. Anything here that shouldn't be?
