New Android User - Questions

So I took the leap from my iPhone 5 to a Nexus 4. So far the OS is very, very impressive. I do have a couple of questions though:


1. How can I set the phone user profile to my contact info in my Gmail contacts?

2. Is there a way to add short cuts to the lock screen? I believe CM10 has this but I can't find a way on stock.

3. Any tips to prolong battery life beyond the obvious stuff like shutting off wi-Fi and Bluetooth?

If you set up your N4 with the same gmail account, the contacts will sync. To ensure this is set, settings>accounts tap the google account, tap it again, and make sure syncing is checked for contacts

2. On lock screen go swipe untill you see the big plus sign, tap it, unlock, and you will have options for lockscreen widgets
3. I have decent battery life so no tips here

I have all my contacts on my phone but when I pull down the notifications shade (sorry if that is iOS jargon) and tap the top right corner for the options my name is listed in the first box but my info is blank. I just want to tell the phone that all my info is already listed in my gmail contacts.

Did you log into Google+?
I believe that's where it's from.
Or I also created a Contact with my personal info.

Check Contacts for "Me" (should be top of the A-Z).
Unfortunately you cant join this contact card with one that your phone likely has for you from all other sources (check the A-Z for your name), otherwise you could just merge the two contacts into one.
