When I'm on wi-fi at home my Droid X can see my DirecTV hr20 DVR on the network. It can even see all the shows that I have recorded on the DVR but cannot download or play them on the Droid X.
As best I can find through Google searches there are 2 problems that keep this from working.
1. Is that DirecTV or Hughes (the manufacturer of the hr20) uses mpeg-2 and the Droid can't play it because it's set up to play mpeg-4
2. Even if you were able to create an app for mpeg-2 the DVR may be encrypted with DRM.
Does anybody know a way around this? Anybody up for creating an app for this? With so many people using DirecTV and Droids I would think it could be a $$ maker. I'd certainly buy it but I'm notsmart enough to create it!
