I've just received the update for Samsung vibrant, but noticed two new pre-loaded apps.

HD Camcorder, and Task Manager that was not there before.

2.1-update1
Eclair.UJVI6

Edit - I use Advanced Task Killer Pro, and have it autokill apps when screen blanks out... new Task Manger is app that keeps re-launcing itself..... no matter how many times Task Killer kills it....

Stop trying to kill it then, might want to get rid of ATK Pro too, wastes more battery than it saves, and use the on Samsung gave us

I wish us Vibrant owners did not have to be FORCED into using this new OTA udated Samsung Task Killer. I use LauncherPro for my default home screen, and it always thinks its a task. Not like the Samsung default home screen 'TouchWiz' which some how is white listed and doesn't show up in the task killer. When i click 'End All' button, i have to wait for all my seven screens to redraw. I wish I can simply uninstall this task killer that came with my OTA update, or simply hide my LaucherPro from it.

cant you put the new task manager on an ignore list in your task killer so it doesnt auto kill it?

and youre not required to use the new task manager if you dont want to. its just like any other app, you dont have to use it if you dont want to.

its got a cool little widget too, if you havent noticed.

You are correct about just not using the app, but it's always there when you long-press the home key. Samsung has made this app part of the group of apps that can not uninstall (unless your rooted, i guess). The little home widget ONLY works with TouchWiz, not LauncherPro (my favorite). For example, TouchWiz doesn't show up in the list of active tasks within the Samsungs default task manager, but LauncherPro (or anyother home launcher) does. Whether you believe or not the usefulness of using a tast manager/killer isn't the issue, but when I end LauncherPro through that dumb task manager, it then has to re-draw all my 7 screens which brings massive lag issues - verses TouchWiz doesn't even show up on the list to end..

There must be some type of Android hack or registry treek to include LauncherPro "white listed" so it doesn't show up in the default samsung task manager/killer.

Yeah! I hope someone comes up with a way to get rid of it. It's very annoying with it being there.
