I finally got an OEM HTC Extended Battery and before I install in into my phone, I was wondering what the process is to "break in" the battery? I want to get the most life out of the battery and I understand that the first few charge cycles are very important.

What is the proper way to "break in" my new extended battery?

I should also add that I am rooted so should I reset battery stats in CWM?

My non-scientific way has worked for me for a long time.... just use it. However, I realize that some of us use it differently than others, but I would say this: Charge it overnight the first time (6-12 hours or so?). Why, because this will allow it to "top off". Batteries go through plus and minus 5 percent of full every hour or so while on a charger, after reaching the full charge. They will cycle to full, cut off until they drift down to 95 percent, then charge again to 100 percent. By saying "charge it overnight" you are ensuring that you go through numerous of these top-off cycles. Next: Use it normally until it runs down to, say, 20 percent or so. Plug it in and charge it back to full. After that, continue to use it normally and be happy.

So, it works out to three steps for me...
1) Charge it overnight
2) Run it down to 20 percent and charge it back to full
3) Use it normally.

Works for me.

Thank you very much indeed sir!! Lastly, do I need to reset battery stats at all seeing that I am rooted? Or just plop in the extended and go for the breakin?

I'd say no. Based on this article...

I should add, I switch between the VZW extended and Standard battery every once in a while and have never had any problem just "continuing on". No special techniques.
