Hey Folks;

I have been using Tracfones for years. Amazingly, my LG 800g fared pretty good through one wash and dry cycle. :-[ Had to replace the battery and the mic is INOP. But could use my BT ear piece, just not talk on it as a regular phone. I was thinking of getting a smart phone before this happened.

So, I bought the Bionic from Sam's and added it to the wife's Verizon account. This thing is nice! Just a little PC.

I do not like not being able to delete programs or customize the software. I have 1G of memory, and just under (if I kill app processes), or just over 500M in use all the time. Also cannot stand the advertizements that come with some of the apps!

Didn't realize Android smartphones needed antivirus. Installed Lookout.

Have been researching how to root my Bionic. Just want to have my ducks in a row to reduce the risk of bricking my phone.

Thank you to all the folks who have posted information for the rest of us who do not have the time or capability to build the software required for a more user-friendly device. I really appreciate it! :)

I am fairly tech and computer savvy. Worked avionics for 20 + years in the military. Currently working telemetry so am familiar with software programming and flashing. But feel I am better with hardware and troubleshooting integrated systems. Have built a couple of computers because I don't like the bloatware from Dell, HP, Gateway, etc. installed on their systems.

Got a novel going here! Thank you again and will be back with questions, I'm sure.

Tony
