new blur-less rom

I'm going to load this up tonight when I get home from work.

I'll post findings but it sounds good to me.

let us know what you think!

i'd be all over this, but i JUST setup my phone the way i like it today and don't want to go through all that again unless there is some real benefit. i've already debloated (as much as i care to), deodexed, and themed my leaked .15...

loaded without problem.. had an incident to deal with at the house.. so i'm just now sitting back down to play with it. seems pretty bare bones to me. feels smooth. going to load up launcher pro and see how she flys

edit:
wow - boots really fast (much faster than all the other roms i've ran)
loaded launcher pro and running quadrant now.
so far so good..

edit 2:
i got a 1323
not sure if that is a good score or not

edit 3:
calendar issues
force closes when i tried to setup syncing

edit 4:
calendar fix

I'll be grabbing it and giving it a shot in about an hour.

I'm SURE that I'll even remove more bloat that they did, like ADW and anything else that I don't need.

BTW, that quadrant is not bad but I've never been a quadrant score type of guy. It doesn't really matter to me since it doesn't translate into real world results.

yea, quadrant scores are pretty arbitrary, but just for reference i hit 1400 - 1440ish with my setup now....

UGH!!! I didn't like the calendar bug, so i flashed back to my nandroid backup until one came out.
everything was fine..
then i read a fix was out already. so i followed the same procedure as before and flashed back to this rom and my phone bricked..

I tried the 2.2 SBF and now i get an boot loader error :(

Edit :
I realized what i did wrong. USER ERROR!

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
Open DroidXBootstrapper
Bootstrap Recovery
Reboot Recovery
Nandroid Backup (Just in case you don't want to keep my rom or something goes wrong)
Advanced
Format System
Format Data
Format Cache
Mount System
Install Zip From SDCard
Select rubiX0.3Focused.zip
Select Yes
Reboot System

I skipped the "mount system" directions the 2nd time around and just did the install.

very important to follow these directions to the letter! there is no idiot proofing in clockworkmod recovery it seems!

I've asked around and can't figure out what updates in the OTA that makes you brick if you try to downgrade.
I thought it was the bootloader, because i went from 29 something to 30.01

i figured i was bricked and couldn't hurt to try, so i sbf'd 2.1 and now i'm back.
perhaps something in the OTA happens MORE than just the bootloader that will cause you to brick? idk. either way.
as i type i'm seeing the droid eye.. so now i upgrade all over again.

not complaining though, better than being perm bricked :)

edit :
I've made updates to my previous post - re-read them if you are going to install this

I played with it some last night, really liked it, but non of the corporate exchange stuff is there. I may reinstll it when I locate all the exchange stuff........

pretty happy with this on day 2.
it's basically everything i wanted.. a minimal optimized approach and then i can put what i want on the phone.
SOME of the blur apps (like the alarm clock) i prefer, so i just reinstalled those specific apps..
working great!

so you can still have widgets from the Dx on it then? I thought it would be widgetless. Man I need to learn how these ROMs work. I need to quit being scared and just do this thing.

Just make a backup and flash back to it if you don't like it.

Backups are your friend. :)

Do we have a noobs guide to getting your ROM on? I hear all this 'backup up' talk and I dont even quite know what that step is.

From another thread...

you need to first install the bootstrapper, and run it.

then download rom manager and install the clockwork mod recovery from it

then you can select the backup option in there and it should automate the process for you

they can both be found in the market, there is a free version of rom manager (with a premium option) and a dontate version of the bootstrap, which can be found for free if you want at My Brain Hurts

i ran seemed fast but my google contects would not reload. my gmail pop up kept force closing. it said it had market fix. but i was still missing my apps. im going to try again but this time im not going to wipe.

hmm.. my contacts sync'd right up.
the only issue i had was the calendar issue and they fixed that with-in 2 hours.
I didn't care for the car dock and the alarm clock, so i replaced them with my blur apps and I'm pretty happy with it.
everything seems to work as it should
