I'm curious, would you rather have a device released two weeks after the announcement date (regardless of when it actually ships) , or would you rather have had the announcement date delayed another 3 or 4 weeks from now when they actually start shipping?

Having waited months for both the BlackBerry KEYone and Essential Phone this year, I'm so numb to the process that I don't care.

Every popular phone gets delayed in some manner, either because of unforeseen demand, component supply issues, regulatory approvals, and so on. And, many companies announce early so that anyone interested is ready to purchase right away rather than having everything ready and trying to build momentum. Having the kinetic energy ready to go is a plus for manufacturers.

If anything, society just needs to learn more patience. We've seemingly lost all ability to wait.

I would like them to end a device announcement with " and it's available today."

Having the release date as close to the announcement is possible is the best scenario. See LG's history for problems that occur when you wait too long ...
