New Dex Feature

Anyone know if the note 8 will get the new dex feature of using the phone separately from the desktop screen while using a usb c to HDMI cord?

Please don't turn this into an argument of the usefulness of Dex.

Just to be clear... The feature I'm describing is using the desktop mode on a monitor while using the connected phone at the same time in "phone mode".

I was not aware this already existed. Is there an example of this anyone can send me.
At the unpacked event, it appeared to be a brand new feature that was with the Note 9 only for now.

It's just software, right? Really, the Note 9 has the 845 with 6GB Ram and 128GB of space. Note 8 is just missing the 845. It would be nice if it could support it.

Search for Dex on the forums, I just watched a youtube video of a set up (simple too!) of the Note 8 running without the base/dock.

The biggest thing with the dock is the cooling system. There is no software in it, that all resides in the OS on the phone.

From what I have been reading the usc-c/hdmi cable only dex mode won't charge the phone but I guess you could just buy a cheap wireless mat for that

This is not the feature I was describing. I know I can already use Dex with the note 8 and no dock.

I may very well be wrong on this, but my understanding is that the feature you're describing, using the phone in phone mode separately from DEX, is a function of the new DEX dock.
