New DNA User With Battery Issues

So far I've factory reset it and not had the same issue. Battery is cool and it took 3 hours to go down 18% with decent use. I haven't added many apps back yet. I'm still not sure what the culprit was. Really makes me worry it may happen again.

Mine is doing the same thing right now, but it only started recently. Like you, the internet is the main culprit. If you discover what was causing the problem, please let me know and I'll do the same. I'm about to do a factory reset, and then I'll slowly add apps back until I discover what the problem is.

I've only added back my most used apps and so far so good. I'm using Chrome so I'm debating on disabling the Internet browser to see if that helps, too. It was off the charger for two hours untouched and stayed at 100%.

Here's a screen shot of my battery use today. I only have two email accounts, Facebook, and twitter going. I do have Google now turned on, too. It was definitely some crazy app that was going nuts, but I have no clue which one. I did disable the internet, too, since I use Chrome.

I am in the process of setting up my phone, and I think I'll go with just Chrome for now as well. We'll see how it goes, but your screen shot is encouraging. Thanks.

By the way, are using Sense or a Launcher?

I've been using it a little more, but it is still at a decent discharge rate, so I'm ok with it. We'll see what happens when I download some more apps.

I'm using Sense right now, but will use Apex later as I usually do.

We'll see if any of this makes a difference.

I'm seeing definite improvement. I let the phone charge fully, and since taking it off, it has only dropped 3% in 1 hour 11 minutes. I haven't used it a ton during that time, but before the reset, I would lose 15% - 20% an hour without using it for more than a couple of minutes. Also, "internet" isn't even registering on the battery monitor, where before it was always 90+% of the usage. Obviously we both had a rogue app draining the battery, and I'm going to be very careful adding things back. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Yeah. I've been texting and doing a decent amount on Chrome, so my battery has been draining a bit more lately. But it's still only like 1% every 8-10 minutes, where yesterday it was 1% every 1.5 minutes. I'm down to 37% now, but my screen has been on a ton.

just curious, how long can you game with the screen on auto brightness? because on my battery an hour and a half of gaming would kill the battery...

Well for one thing I don't use auto brightness. I keep my screen at about 60%. I would imagine keeping it on auto would kill it a little faster but from my experience I can get just over 2 hours of gaming and be around 15% battery remaining. I have never pushed it farther than that, plus I only gamed on it a few times to enjoy this crazy good screen. Normally I use my nexus 7 now. What is the normal amount of screen on time you get when not gaming?

Good deal. I'm gonna go through today with Sense, so I can get a baseline gauge on the battery, and then tomorrow I'll switch back to ADW EX to see how the battery responds.

My DNA has been off charge since 6am. i have gps on, screen on auto brightness, etc and I am at 80%. I have fast boot disabled on my DNA though, I think fastboot is a major battery drain issue and i read somewhere that disabling it will make your charge last longer.

Today it's been ok. I used it a little this morning and it was down to 73% by noon. So I tossed it on the FatBoy at lunch and got back up a little bit. I've only added a couple more apps today, but I'll try to see if anything really messes with it.

Today was much better. After 12 hours, 8 minutes, I'm at 40%, which is much better. Tomorrow I'll add a Launcher and see what happens.

Yeah. Mine has been fine. Did spot charge it at lunch and right after work. But I've been on it a fair amount. Still sitting at 41% right now. I would prefer a little better, but it's definitely not like it was.

Been thinking of giving my mom the note 2 and picking up a dna but this thread scares me away lol

I hear ya, but my problem was definitely a rogue app. Since the factory reset, my battery life is back to normal. Yesterday I took the phone off charge at 6:30 and finished the day at 24% at 11:15ish. I can live with that.

Same thing as mighty. I had a freak app go nuts. Sure I had to reset it, but it's all good now. Is the battery a little worse than the Note and the iPhone? Absolutely. Is it unusable? No. When you have an app go crazy it is, but I don't think that's the norm.
