Hey guys, I would like to thank everybody here that helped me understand Android phones, tricks, etc.....I'm happy with my phone, no issues, not even GPS problems after finding some settings here :).

Downloaded Samsung Galaxy S Unlock app on the market, opened it and gave me the code, I was so thrilled. Didn't write it down or anything because I can just open the app again later if I need it. Applied the OTA update and all is fine. I opened the unlock app and now doesn't work, it says "file not found", did AT&T crippled that one too as they did the USB tethering?
ANy other way to unlocking without rooting?
Thanks in advance.

Download the SGS unlock app for Froyo and it will give you the unlock codes. It will also save the codes in a text file on your card, so you may already have them on your phone.

Found the answer, not what I wanted to hear but, the file that contains the unlock and freeze code, "nv_data.bin", is not longer present on the phone for any app to find it after OTA updating. Just call AT&T 6 months or more with that phone on a contract (in my case), they will give you the codes.
Oh well, I still have an old Razr V9x unlocked for traveling purposes.
AT&T, sneaky!

s2h2golf, you beat me to it. The problem is that the file where it gets the codes from is no longer on the device for anyone or anything to find it, thank anyways :).

Hmm, after seeing this question I just went to the Market and downloaded the SGS Unlock App for Froyo and ran it today. I had to manually update to JH7 though using the update from XDA, so maybe that is the difference.

Most likely that's why, in my case not a biggie since my contract is over in december, so I can wait. Not planning to switch carriers until next year maybe, I just needed an unlock to go Italy next month and I have one unlocked phone on my family plan (have 3 lines). All good but no Android in Italy, maybe I'll head XDA forums to investigate a little, thanks for your post.
