New EVO / poor connectivity :(

Hi. I just got the HTC EVO LTE seven days ago. Prior to this phone, I had the HTC Hero (for 4 years!). I have been using Sprint for about 7 years.

My concern: My new EVO has a terrible time getting "bars." I often only have one or two bars. Yesterday alone it dropped four calls! Today it said it was roaming.

This all happened while I was in my own house. My Hero never dropped below 3 bars when I was home and NEVER went into roaming. I have the same carrier (Sprint) and the same plan.

I have already done a prl and profile update. What else can I do to get my new EVO to have better connectivity?

I don't think a factory reset would work so try taking to sprint and getting a new one it might be the cellphone radio.

Its either a bad radio or they are working on the tower near you.
The only way to determine that is with another sprint device, preferabley another EVO LTE.

Good test would be comparing it to the Evo in the sprint store

I know they are working on towers and LTE is popping up here and there in my area but how much of a broad area is too much for them to be working on and sacrificing service.

when I first switched to sprint 4 years ago the service was better than att for me. Now within the last year service has been worse than a prepaid phone in the 90s.
