New Extended Battery Options Thread

For anyone that is curious about ordering the Seidio 3500 from amazon, free shipping is 5-9 business days, I opted for 2 day delivery for $10. There were other options, I think that overnight was around $20, and 3-4 day was around $5.

mugen batteries?

I seriously want that extended battery but the case cover IMHO is disgusting. Mugen has a 3200 mAh battery with cover that looks sooo much better albeit more expensive. $96 vs the $69 for Seido.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it? It just started shipping recently apparently. I've only tried Seido batteries in the past.

[HLI-A9292XL] Buy 3200mAh Mugen Power Extended Battery for HTC EVO 4G with Battery Door

Anyone tried it? Let's face it, these are serious investments one must be happy with.

Looked here BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims! for tests, but nothing so far regarding the mugen for htc evo.

Aside from the look of the casing, there are other things to consider. How about other accessories? Seidio manufactures tons of phone accessories, many of which are built to accommodate their extended batteries. Buy the Mugen and forget about ever getting a case or car dock designed to fit it.

Also, I believe that I saw some negative reviews for Mugen, I guess that one of their extended batteries is actually just two smaller batteries taped together in the casing.

There is also a 3000mAh battery from Yoobao which is a legitimate Hong Kong company. For $25 it is a good deal.

3000mah Yoobao Extended Battery for HTC Touch Evo 4G Sprint

Hmmm. Looking at this for sure! Thanks for the link!

@eye4ni: I did consider the other things like accessories. I really want a jelly/silicone cover for the extended back, but I can't find one for the EVO... period. Regardless of cheap off-brand Chinese, Seido, or Mugen. I might have to try to make my own from molds.

I also heard of the crappy taped-back battery from a mugen battery although it wasn't this one for the evo.

If anyone does try Mugen, let me know how it compares. I wonder if the cases for these offbrands will fit with the seido battery... any takers?

well ive have the seido 3500 "case" on for about a month or so, and the rubber outer flim will get rubbed off over time.

my corners are now shiny black plastic like the black shiny plastic edge of the EVO.

so the outer rubber film or what ever you call it will come off over time with use.

because its hard plastic it makes sense what ever film you put over it will rub off overtime.

i personally dont care, just being able to do everything on my phone without the worry of switching batteries out, out way the flaws.

now if only otterbox would make an extended battery and cover. i know im dreaming.

Is anyone experiencing the battery dropping drastically even after being charged to 100%? It's being talked about over on XDA.

Mine drops from 100% to 90% in about the same amount of time as it always has before the extended battery, but after that it lasts forever.

I have to say the best thing about the sedio 3500 was being able to go on vacation and use the navigation, camera and internet without ever worrying about the battery dying. My wife still has the Palm Pixi and her battery was dying about every five hours. The 3500 truly unleashes the evo!

+1 for the 3000Mah Chinese off eBay for $10!

I would like the bigger battery but I don't think the extra thickness is worth it... does the 1750mah really make a difference... or do u have to go to the 3500 to notice?

lets face it not much of a difference, perhaps just 10 or 15 minutes top. I would say to notice anything you need to go to aleast a 3500. I purchased a 2600mha from sprint and it does last longer but the 3500 would last even longer. I am gonna order a seidio at some point as it will be about 900mha better then the sprint extended battery. also why does no one make an screen saver that shows the battery being charged when you have the charger hooked up to the phone. somewhat like the iphone does or lock 2.0. lock2.0 though is a joke as notifications wont show up and also you can bypass lock2.0 by pressing the home key.

I found the sprint 2600 was not giving me a full day a few hours more then the standard. decided to order the seidio from amazon which turned out to be the same price i paid for the sprint battery hoping to get at least 10-12 hours

I bought a Mugen 3200 for my Evo and I'm very happy. I also found a protective cover that works great over the bigger battery. Bought a Laza cover. Comes in red or black is inexpensive & fits perfectly! Found it on Amazon.
