New firmware update / feature drop!

I have a Pixel 3a XL. I have the app, but it doesn't show up in my app drawer. It still shows up in my Settings.

I think it is necessary, but it doesn't show up as an app once you update it. Google is doing this with a lot of features, just handling as updates through the app store instead of havening to wait for a system update.

I just read their support page and it says pixel phones just need to go to the bluetooth settings no app required.

Well I'll be damned installing the app did bring the features to my pixel buds software lol. Weird and the app installed is no where to be found.

Haha, I still having received the updated firmware yet unfortunately. Still waiting and being patient for it. Ugh.

The bass feature is my favorite. Just the right amount not took much more compared to previously but enough to make be very noticeable. Absolutely love it.

I agree, that was the one thing I missed was a little more bass. It's really well done.

I think it requires both the firmware update and the update to the app to get everything working. Google also advised that the firmware would be a staged event, so hopefully more people will get it in the coming days.

Not sure what would happen if you updated the app without the firmware update.

Yeah seems like you need the 550 firmware and then it's relief upon server side settings being pushed to your device. It did say it's being gradually pushed.

Honestly this is one of the features I'm looking forward to the most as well. I can't wait for mine! Still in limbo I still have that. 296 from where version of my buds! Still waiting for the. 550 update!

Yeah seems like you need the 550 firmware and then it's relief upon server side settings being pushed to your device. It did say it's being gradually pushed.

Fyi, I downloaded the APK and installed it. The apk is working flawlessly. Callers also tell me that I am more intelligible after the update

Excellent news. I had no call issues before but I haven't tried it since the update. But the bassssssss!

haha yep yep exactly! I had no clue quality or dropping issues beforehand, but the bass boost is nice and it's no super bowl. And the fact that you can ask Google Assistant what the battery life of each earbud is when you need to know, that's a really nice feature as well! I mean the sharing feature and the experimental test features, I don't think I'll be using that often but it's still nice to have nonetheless!

Haha hey dude, I appreciate the support! I mean for me you know that I may know about checking the battery levels of each of my earbuds. And I was complaining to Pixel tech support about this for quite a few weeks as you recall hahaha it's really nice to know that Google integrated assistant into checking the battery life whenever we need to without lifting a finger. As far as the base boost is concerned, yeah and YouTube music, even with the built-in EQ settings, the extra EQ setting is definitely welcomed. I just tried it out in Pandora because the audio quality in that app sucks, and still crappy lol. Oh well... I mean let's be honest now compared to every other truly wireless earbud on the market, that's what's great about Google pixel products is the fact that they get OTA from where updates all the time straight from Google which improves the user experience most of the time wink

Yeah and enjoy so far it's been nothing but amazing for me. The news bass boost really made my workouts more enjoyable.

I completely agree with you. Ever since the firmware .550 upgrade, again I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect or not, but I swear that Google Assistant is more reliable consistently, the new baseball feature is great and asking Google Assistant what my left and right pixel buds battery life is at is wonderful! It's frustrated to watch the other YouTube reviewers don't include the pixel buds in the truly wireless category when they review all these other earbuds. They review the Galaxy buds plus, the Galaxy buds live, the jabras the AirPods pro, and they all knock pics because they don't have ANC! but for the price, for the fin finish and the Google Assistant integration, they really can't be beat. I mean I know I'm biased, but still lol.
