I got my new s8 4 days ago and put in an SD card. I put all of my apps back on it (many are games, movie apps, etc) and carried on.

About 20 min later, my phone suddenly restarted, all game and movie apps, some banking apps etc were gone. Literally gone.

A pop-up shows my SD card was corrupted so I transfered pics etc to Google drive, then removed the offending SD card and put in a new one, formatted it, good to go.

Now I go to download my old games, bank apps, etc and it says something like "another user has installed an incompatible version of this app so you can't download it."

No where on my phone are these apps. No where. Obviously aren't in my new SD card either.

So I begrudgingly try an apk file off my browser Google search for one of the apps and bam, it's now on my phone - and also has the" open "," uninstall" "update" choices IN GOOGLE STORE.

So obviously there are play store apks somewhere, is my only guess, and they're hiding on my new phone, but aren't showing up via cleaners, file Mgr, etc.

The only way for me to get my old apps on to my phone is to use apk file websites..... But I dislike this. Very much. I don't trust apk websites and need to rely on getting my apps and updates via play store, period.

Anyone know how to fix the google playstore "can't download this app because another user has downloaded an incompatible version" huge issue? That pop up showed BEFORE I got the idea hours later to try an apk file website.

Do I have to factory reset my phone, maybe?

One good reason to not "move" apps to the SD card.

The Play store just remembers whether you've ever installed the app, it doesn't look in the phone to see if it's currently installed on that phone.

More likely, just the links to the pieces that were moved to the card.

but aren't showing up via cleaners, file Mgr, etc.
Because they're just symlinks, not apps.

The other way is to back everything up, then reflash the ROM.

Anyone know how to fix the google playstore "can't download this app because another user has downloaded an incompatible version" huge issue?
As I said, reflash the ROM.

Do I have to factory reset my phone, maybe?
After you back everything up (because a reset well delete everything) you could try. Depending on where the links ended up, it may or may not work.

Unsure what reflashing a Rom is. Is it in settings or maybe developer options? If that's a root term, I've never rooted as I'm terrified to, plus I use boost mobile and am scared if I successfully root, the pay as I go aspect will be deleted and I'll have an unusable phone.

Had this happened with my Tab S3, the apps would grayed out.

I just go to the settings > Apps > (click on 3 dots) Show system Apps

Scroll down to the list looking for (I don't remember exactly) something that have the apps name in question. Then click on it you should be able to click "Uninstall" button.

Hope that help
