New Gear S3 update

I have mine up for sale. Sick of Samsung. Mine is about 10% worse than before the last patch and about 50% worse than before the Tizen 3 update. I have to charge every day.

I received a new update to my Gear S3 frontier this morning. It's an update that improves battery life and Bluetooth connection. Hopefully it doesn't break anything.

Is yours a Carrier LTE model or one with only Bluetooth.?

I was hoping an update would make a difference in battery life but by what I'm reading, it doesn't sound as if it did. I'd be happy with 2 days between charges in my LTE version.

I installed the update then decided that I would do a factory reset since I saw no battery improvement. After the reset, nothing changed so the update was useless for me.

It has been a few days of normal work load notifications on my watch, after the update and a factory reset. I thought at first that I had seen battery improvement, but after normal days, it is behaving just as it has for the past couple of months. No battery life improvement. Still love the watch and very pleased with it. End the day with about 30% battery left so yes, charge every night, but I do that on my phone as well. I do use a watch face that burns a bit more battery and always have the display on (AOD). Could cut either and get a few days per charge but like how I have it setup.

I am still at 70-75% at end of the day. I have AOD off. I still charge every night, but this was about the same I got with my Apple watch series 2. Before the update I was at 40% at end of the day. I started with version 3 of the OS on this watch. I had an S3 before on version 2.x and I think what I am seeing now is close to it. I think I will test how long I can get on a single charge.

I agree with everyone that is saying that they aren't seeing any battery life improvement. It's just normal battery usage at this point. I don't think I'll ever get back to the usage I was getting when I first got the watch. That was 3+ days off battery life.

I agree 100%. I don't see any improvement. With the December update (or thereabout) battery life took a terrible dive on both my watches (I have a Frontier and a Classic (both non-LTE)) and since then neither lasts a full day. I am pretty disappointed that the problem persists. I have turned off AOD, the heart rate monitor, WiFi and movement reminders. So, I am limiting the features and still the battery life sucks.

That sucks everyone is not getting better battery life after the update. Just like with phone updates, I wonder if there are certain apps that are using the most battery.
Did anyone check the battery stats to see what is using the most? When I was using AOD, that was at or near the top, along with display.
I only used AOD for a couple days and decided it wasn't worth it for the battery hit.
My watch is still somewhat new (about a month), but battery life is around 80% at the end of the day lately.

80% at the end of the day. That's great. I have the LTE model so j usually ended up with about 70% at the end of the day.

The update has really made me dislike this watch. Battery life took a hit. Battery at 25% at the end of the day. To make matters worse, when I charge overnight, the battery will charge to 100%, stay there for maybe 20 minutes and then start to discharge at a phenomenal rate with the charging cradle flashing red. I wake up with 60% battery. It then takes 2+ hours to get it back to full. It takes me about an hour to get to work and in time the battery looses 15-20%. This with AOD off. Wifi off, bluetooth only.

Really wish I could roll back to the previous version.

I've got to be honest my non LTE version came off the charger at 5:30am this morning and it's now almost 6pm so almost 12 hours and my battery is at 77% so to me that's pretty good

My battery life has been crap since the tizen 2 update and this most recent one hasn't helped a thing. Glad to see some people say they're at 70+ percent at end of day...that's about what I used to be at when I bought the watch when it first came out. Left my house around 8am with 100% battery and am currently sitting at 56%. Factory resets, changed up watch faces, check rogue apps, etc have all been done. I usually charge my watch every night so I don't really care if I can get 2 days out of it but at this discharge rate this sucker will be dead before I get home from work.

Is there a way to just set it to Bluetooth only when you have your phone on you and maybe a toggle to LTE when you want to leave your phone behind?
What are your top battery usages? Mine are always Samsung Health and Watch Faces.

It's on bluetooth mode 99.9% of the time. Top battery usage...just checked. For some reason is the blasted calender... WTF? Let me see if I can delete and reinstall this...

This makes no darn sense.

Are you using the OEM charger or a 3rd party charger?

OEM.

I'm gonna do a warranty exchange with T-Mobile. If battery is still bad, I'm gonna buy a Timex and call it a day.
