I've seen this bug a few times now but I'll get a new gmail, the icon will show that I have a new message but it doesn't show up in Inbox. Tried switching labels, refreshing and going in and out of the app but the string doesn't show up unless I respond from gmail on the desktop. Anyone else seeing this?

Not sure this is an answer, but try accessing your email from the pull-down alert screen above your home screen. It seems to operate separately from the email or gmail icon. You can read, delete, etc. from there.

Thanks but it doesn't show up in the notification bar. I get it in the browser, the icon indicates a new email but not notification either with sound or in the bar.

Something weird going on. Sounds like you may be using the Gmail website to get email rather than one of the email widgets on the X ... mailbox, email or gmail (check app drawer and/or place as widget using press & hold blank area of home screen.) Whichever you choose, you will need to do menu> settings and set up the fine points, including alerts. Luck!

Ive had the same thing happen a couple of times. Manually refreshing the email seems to pull it down sometimes. Occasionally it doesnt work and I have to go into the browser to get it. Not sure what the issue is.

i am having the same issue on my 3 day old droid x. i called verizon who gave me to motorola who told me that it is a bad or corrupt software installation. they are sending me a new phone which should be here on monday or tuesday. oddly enough i started using the stock email app and it pushes gmail, allows labeling, and for some reason is causing my gmail app to work right from time to time. weird.

It may well be a conflict with LP+, even though I haven't had problems with it. However, LP+ is a huge app and the potential for conflicts is equally huge, especially when there are a lot of other apps operating. I ended up taking LP+ off, even though I absolutely LOVE its flexibility, widgets and especially the rotating dock. But over time, there were a number of glitches that disappeared with LP+ was gone. *sniff*
