So since the latest update to Google Now, my MAXX appears to be experiencing a conflict between Google Now and Moto's Touchless Control/Moto Assist. When I get a text message and Moto Assist announces the alert and asks me to say listen if I want it to read it, when it gives the tone for me say "listen" it gets stuck in some sort of listen/respond loop that can go on for at least a minute or so before it gives up. I've tried shutting off Google Now's always listening, from the home screen and from any screen and I've even tried shutting off Touchless Control and switching Moto Assist features on and off. Anyone else having this problem? I know in the past we've documented a conflict between these two apps and that the Google Now must be turned off but now I'm experiencing it WITH Google Now listen mode turned off. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen now...

Same issue here and I tried everything. I turned off moto assist until someone comes up with something to fix it.

OK good I'm not alone on this one! It's a shame too because I really use Moto Assist in the car...I just wish she would speak with a little excitement about some of the messages!

I agree that this is great in the car and she could use a little excitement on some messages.☺

What worked for me was to go to the play store under "my apps", find the google app and uncheck auto update. Then go to the app info page on your phone for the google app and uninstall updates. this should fix it until a real fix comes.

I'm glad you posted about this, because I have been having the same trouble, and it was just sort of starting to hit me that "hey, something is genuinely wrong, this isn't just a flaky one-shot issue".

So that sort of worked, it now spazzes out when I'm supposed to speak my reply message. I saw another solution somebody mentioned in the Play Store that I'm going to try later... Something about clearing out the caches in a particular order or something...

I am having the same issue and I have not had any problems before. What I do now is when it happens I just scroll down the notifications and tap the message and it stops immediately. But it will not read message at this time. I hope they fix this soon. I use a assist probably 8 hours a day well driving

I uninstalled :'( the latest Google App version (v4.1.24.1672412.arm) and Assist is now working :D . Now, if you don't want to uninstall the latest Google App then disable "Talk to me" for "Home" and "Driving" in the Assist application.
Now, just wait for a fix!

Does anyone know if Motorola is aware of this problem? Have they announced any plans to fix it?

I'm concerned about uninstalling the Google App update, because then if they fix it in the Google App, I won't know about it, will I?

According to this, yes. https://plus.google.com/104675477166761544783/posts/Fqq3tiSCxje (See the first comment.)

Well, it will likely be the Assist app that gets an update in the Play Store. When you see that, you can probably guess that Motorola has fixed the problem with the Google app, and you can update that one as well (It will be listed as an available update from the time that you uninstall updates, so be careful about doing an "update all" in the Play Store app.)

However, on the off-chance that Google changes the Google app, if you go into the Play Store app on the web, it shows you the date it was updated. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...e.android.googlequicksearchbox&token=hfdkPsAn (Notice that it says January 12 at the top, under the name of the app?)

Check there to see if there is an update after that.

Thanks for the thread. Me too. Had the phone over a year so did a factory reset. Sped up the phone but didn't fix this problem, now I know why. I'll stay posted.

Same issues here instead of asking if I want to listen some weird fax machine type sound happens for about a whole minute.

Yup, rolling back the Google App solved the problem...and the white background for all my apps is gone again. Thanks!!!

There's an update for Assist available, hopefully this is the fix

I did all this for the same issues and now I am having the same issue I had way last year where in Driving Mode, Assist does not understand you after asking if you want to respond to the incoming Text................I am about ready to disable it and say good riddance. So tired of all the hits and misses on someone elses part. Kinda like buying a car and the radio only works part of the time, but if I rotate the tires once a month the radio will work for a week or so...........kinda tired of rotating tires if you know what I mean. I paid hard earned money for this phone and if the maker releases software for it I just want it to work. Is that too much to ask?
