There is supposedly a new feature whereby you can say "send a hangouts message" to your phone and you will be able to dictate and send a message in hangouts using your voice. Is this working for anybody? When i try it it doesnt work, the phone just says "please install the app and try again"

Hmmm, I just tried it again and it recognised the phrase and asked who I wanted to send the message to. I've only got two contacts, tried saying both, but it wouldn't recognise them as contacts, even though it was actually recognising that I was saying their name cos their name was coming up on screen. So i still couldn't send a message. I thought I would try setting hangouts as my default SMS client to see if that made a difference, but as soon as I did that it started saying what it used to say, "install the app and try again". So I changed the default SMS setting back to what it was, but its still now saying to install the app and try again. Aaaarrrggghhhhh. I give up

Hmm. That is very odd.

Are your two Hangouts contacts listed as contacts in Google Contacts as well?

Works here for me. I start with "send a hangout to (contact)." Wait for prompt to dictate message, then talk. No issues. All of my contacts are stored on Google, not the phone, if that makes a difference.
