I know some on here have bought new H8's lately.

When you setup the phone initially is it already loaded with latest updates or do you have to do downloads. I have only setup 2 previous phones and they came up to date. I just had to wait while google uploaded my saved programs.

Any tips on doing a worry free setup?

I know I am going to be in a hurry as I have to visit a tmobile store and get a new nano sim as my Zenfone is a Micro sim. Don't want to try cutting it down.

It really depends on when it was produced in relation to when you bought it whether or not how many updates you'll have. You should have the EMUI 5.1 update along with nougat. It'll take a little while for those to download. Then you'll have lots of apps that will need updating out of the box then of course all the apps you typically download on your phones. WiFi helps speed this up but without it like I am right now some updates are only available with WiFi but the others will be much slower without it. If you have WiFi still though you'll have quite a lot to update before it's ready to go which will at least 30 minutes plus or so. Hope this helps.

Yes give it a little time. Our Honor 8 came with marshmallow and EMUI 4.0 and upgraded to Nougat and 5.0 when we set it up.

That's how it was with my Huawei M3 tablet. Marshmallow was installed but updated to Nougat.

It was probably just the original image. Just do the OTAs and it should take you to the latest software

How are you liking your new Honor 8, OP? And what colour did you get? Hope your setup went well! :)

Count me in too. How are you coming along with your new honor 8? Can anyone help you with anything? Let us know. I can tell you that won't find a better forum with a great bunch of helping people here. You bought an awesome device that has flagship specs at a budget price. The honor 8 is very tough to beat. Are you enjoying it so far? Tell us your thoughts so far on how you like it. It's the smoothest and most fluid Android phone that you'll find other than a true pure stock Android phone such as a Nexus 6p or a pixel. Which those have no skins bogging them down but honor was able to pull that off with EMUI somehow. Hope you are liking it so far. Let anyone know if you have questions

Definitely... We are a small community but always willing to help out!

Hi Guys I should have mentioned on here that I don't arrive at our Florida condo until next Sunday. My neighbor accepted the Fedex for me and is baby sitting until I arrive.
Will report how I make out with it.

Thanks for all the offers, will be sure to post if I need some help. Always found Android Central forums the best for specific help.

Probably will order a clear case as it is Gold so not sure I want to mix colors but if I did might be black.

Cool beans! Yes, let us know when you get it and have it all set up! Oh wow! You got the gold version! Super cool! That will be so beautiful. Good call on planning to get a clear case for it. :)

What does VZW have against Huawei or are they unable to produce American cdma bands for some other reason?

Huawei chose not to include Verizon lte band 13. This is a public standard. Verizon cannot stop someone from adding it to a phone

I wonder why? Eschewing huge American market.
Well Verizon is somewhat of a unique situation where in sure the phone would work with an active sim but Verizon won't activate a non verizon approved phone through its activation system online or calling or in stores. So they can't really advertise Verizon support without going through the Verizon approval process

No, but Verizon has an expensive approval process and they can (and do) keep phones off of their network. I don't blame OEM's that decide not to include it.

Sucks for Verizon customers, they should become a GSM network already. Wonder how much work and money thatll cost them
