New ics leak 6.7.229

You will also be able to see the CPU speed in most benchmark apps. Quadrant shows it for sure.

SamuriHL, if you check the thread linked above there are some people who posted the FXZ instructions to not wipe your internal memory. That should do what you're trying to figure out I think.

Sort of. It's a start. Just removing the stuff that overwrites user data and the internal memory isn't quite enough. The real trick is getting back into recovery without having to do a battery pull. You don't want it to boot in 902 or 905 before applying the latest ics update because it could mess up your system settings or apps. So the idea is roll back to 902 with existing data, immediately reboot it into recovery, apply 905, and finally apply the latest ics update directly thereafter without rebooting in between. Then reboot. In that case it should have the same effect as upgrading from ics to newer ics directly. In theory anyway...

Anyone see anything different with this version? I would think that it's just a performance update, which I am very welcome to (and why I'm running CM9 again)

New kernel is about the only change. Probably for performance yes.

Was on ICS .223, FXZ back to .902, took the .905 OTA. installed .229 via recovery.
.229 was the same as .223 except that I could not get POP3 email to work. Received a message every time I was setting up my accounts that said email stopped working...or something like that. Other than that (which is a huge deal for me) everything else seemed to work.
Went back and started over and used a different download .229, same thing...no POP3 email.
FXZ'd back to .902, OTA .905 and back on .223....email works fine, whew!!!
Anyone else on .229 having any issues with POP3 email accounts?

I have posted the script I wrote with instructions on what to do with it. It works for me. May not work for everyone. But, it allowed me to go back to 902 from 229, keep my data *untouched*, and allowed me to apply 905 and 229 without booting into 902 or 905 at all. Also, it'll allow you to automagically apply razrs edge root if the script detects the files for it. Enjoy but use at your own risk. :)

i downloaded the lasted ics leak to my sdcard. im on system v.5.905.xt875 build 5.5.1 84 dbn im rooted and have bootstrap.what would my next step be to instal?:-X

Now that I've had a weekend with ICS, here are some notes:

Install time for the leak was about 15 mins.

Took about 10 mins for the phone to boot after the update.

Flash was uninstalled during the upgrade process.

Once booted, my Baseband was showing up as Unknown and I had no network connectivity. Did the SIM pull, reboot, reinstall SIM, reboot and got connectivity back.

Initial use was very laggy. The wait/force stop message appeared frequently while using various games and apps.

CPU is now running at 1.2 GHz, vs. 1.0 GHz on Gingerbread.

I haven't received that Google sign-in error message that I was getting on Gingerbread after Google started updating apps during I/O.

Some if my widgets weren't updating correctly. Examples: I toggled sync with Power Control Plus but the button stuck on off. I went in the settings and sync was on. I set up a Minimalistic Text widget to display battery information. It got stuck on 73% even though the phone was fully charged.

I don't seem to be falling down to 3G as often as I remember.

The phone continued to speed up with more use.

Battery life seems a lot better.

I think when it's time to get the official update, I'm going to do a full wipe.

If I am already on stock 905, then all I need to do is copy ICS file to phone and install? Just wanted to double check.

Right so you copy the update to your sdcard-ext, boot into recovery, and apply the update. I personally recommend wiping the cache when it's done before you reboot the phone.
