Now, I have been an avid Nova Launcher user for years and years. Longer than I can remember. However, there were 2 huge nails in the coffin for me with Nova:

  1. No Fold support - They admitted that they had no plans to add this and this was a killer for me - Yes, you can use Tasker or other tools to work around this, but why?
  2. Dev are no longer going to be working on Nova Launcher - Parent company has pretty much killed this, so there is no need to keep hoping now.
In comes a new Launcher called Octopi Launcher (I have no affiliation with this App or Devs).

This launcher DOES, officially, support folding devices with separate profiles for each of the screen. There are a TON of customization features and it really gives you a lot more freedom to take advantage of the screens you have.

You can configure cover and inner screens, but Octopi lets you have different layouts in portrait and landscape mode. So, if you prefer, you can have 4 layouts depending on the orientation of your device.

The Devs are VERY active on Reddit and really work hard to take the feedback given to make this even better. So if you are looking for something other than OneUI, give this a go!

I had this installed for less than 24h before I went Pro ($0.99 and/or $2.99 to go Pro and unlock everything) (you can only give each one once, but you can give both).

The pro bonus features include scrolling widget stacks, drawer icon drop shadows, and nested drawer folders.

Thanks for mentioning this launcher. I don't have a foldable device, but I've used Nova for over 10 years on all of my Android devices, so I'm going to check out Octopi.

The dev's are working on the one feature I used the most with Nova that no other launcher has been able to replicate.

Dock Pagination with Folders. (e.g. Multiple side scrolling dock pages that support adding folders)

I also like that I can customize the icon grids to have as many rows/columns as I want rather than the limit of what Samsung gives us. Also being able to resize them and use more Icon Packs is a plus as well. :)

Nova Prime user here just upgraded from S23 Ultra to Fold7, yeah the lack of customization between outer and inner screen Homes made me stop using Nova.

Is there an option in Octopi to have labels in folders but not Home screens? That was one of my fav features in Nova. I will try it out regardless

Welcome to AC!
Have you tried Samsung Good lock app ? Their modules are pretty good to further customize the stock UI

Honestly I will have to try this, but they are VERY active on their subreddit (r/octopi) and are always looking for feedback. I normally do not have anything on my home screens, so I never tried this option. :P

Just wanted to bump this. In the past several months, there have been a LOT of updates and changes made to this launcher that makes it a lot better than Nova ever was, especially for Folds.

If you have not checked it out in a while, worth looking at this gain.

The Dev is so active in developing this launcher, it's changed SO MUCH in the past couple months. It's also worth getting into the Beta, It's almost nightly that he releases something new.

Got it up and running and dig it, but ultimately going to have to go back to the pixel launcher. Running into this strange issue when I go into the recents, I've also experienced this on Nova so I don't think it's specific to this launcher ... Perhaps it's Google playing games?? Anyone else encounter this?

Have you reported this issue on the launchers subreddit?
