New LG G4 T-Mobile. 2 Messaging problems

1. I like to text myself when I need to take a note. For me it is very quick. But with the G4 when I text myself it keeps going on and on. Once I stopped it via force stopping Messages. Another time by restarting.

2. I am getting a pop up for a text when the screen is on lock screen, but can I get the full message to pop up or at least more of the message than the I get.

And shouldn't it. awaken the screen. When the screen is off I just hear the sound.

3. Is there a way to get "ok Google" to work when the screen is off. If I recall call correctly it used to on phones until Lollipop, correct

Download a third party app, I am partial to Textra as it offers some really great functionality and the UI is quite well done.

#1 seems completely convoluted. use a note-taking and/or reminder app. most good ones sync across devices and let u view/edit notes and get reminders on your pc as well (possibly via chrome add-on).

#2 I don't think that's possible with stock sms app, but a 3rd party app might do it.

#2b 3rd party sms app should be able to do that...but why?? that kills battery so bad. There's a reason many android phones have LED notification lights. use Light Flow or some other app to take control of the notification light and never need to turn on the screen to know what type of notification you just received.

#3 yes, but I think the phone needs to be plugged into charger. There's a setting to enable this. I think it's in Google Now settings.

Thanks to all

1. Not really sure why one would consider it convoluted. If you're on the phone works as quick as any note program. But as far as if I were to use it, as I have on every Android phone I've had, all 15 😀, I've never had a problem where texts are continuously sent.

2. So a third party app won't awaken the screen when off. It does however do it on the S6, with the native messaging app

3. I probably didn't explain it correctly or used the wrong terms so forgive me. I meant when you say "On Google" it will work on every screen of you have that option checked. It used to work when the screen was off. I know it worked in the past. Someone said they believe with 5.0 it stopped

Maybe #2 and #3 above are related since they have to do with waking the lock screen.

I really do appreciate both of your help so far. Any further help would be welcomed

I guess for me Somnambulator the texting works fast for me. I guess the issue is it not stopping. To know that another G4 acts the same in all 3 cases would be good to hear.

Can either of you try texting yourself if u have a G4

I played with this tonight. Although you can't use "ok google" with the phone completely off, you can still use it without unlocking the phone. Just double tap the blank "sleep" screen (even if the phone is locked) and then you use "ok google" commands... some of them will require an unlock to fulfill, but others (e.g., "play some songs by Deep Purple") work great. (Also, yes... on my Note2 (kitkat) I was sometimes able to use OK Google with the screen off, but it was flaky even at the best of times.)

Yep, you can use whatever app tickles your fancy, but I don't think we really understand what you're saying. Are you saying you send the text "get beer" to your number and it continually sends "get beer", "get beer "," get beer", "get beer" to your phone?

That would be an annoying, yet somehow useful feature ;)
