Hello All,

I regret having to introduce myself this way, but I am in need some urgent help! A family friend tragically passed away over the weekend. He was using a Samsung Galaxy S2 - AT&T version. I don't have the model number or anything else, but could possibly get it if need be.

I believe he was using a pin code to unlock the phone. Unfortunately, no family members knew his unlock code. I wanted to see if there is anyway that we can bypass the screen lock?

I saw a video on youtube, that showed how to do a factory reset - being sure to remove the SIM card first. I guess my question is if I put the SIM card back into the phone after it resets, will the contacts still be there?

Also, do you think that AT&T can help in a situation like this?

Thank you all for your assistance!

Sorry to hear that.. your best bet would be to contact AT&T and explain the situation... and yes a factory reset will delete everything off of the phone including contacts (unless they are saved to the SIM card which is very rare these days). They can be restored if they were saved to a Google account and if you had access to it.
