Still have my 2nd ever phone. It was a Huawei Qwerty. My very 1st was a Nokia Flip phone. Was actually kind of funny as I was living in Vancouver at the time & it was early March when I got that old phone. Sitting on a beach in the sun. Learning how to text & just work it beyond pushing the green button to talk & the red to stop. What I didn't know was that my family who were part of my several pictures being sent, were in the middle of a -40 blizzard & about 4 feet of snow :D I swear I had no idea!!
Now have myself a Galaxy A5 (2017) which still puzzles me why they needed to designate it that way...And a Galaxy Tab E 8.0 which I am hoping isn't going to be left out of the updates anytime soon :(

Welcome aboard! :)

I’ve created an Intro thread for you, since you originally posted in another member’s thread. If you’d like the thread title changed, just say. :)

Hello and welcome to the forums at Android Central!
Enjoy and have fun in the community.

What do you mean by "still puzzles me why they needed to designate it that way"?
You mean that it looks almost exactly as the old Galaxy S4?
Or there's something else?

Welcome to Android Central, from one Canadian to another! Enjoy your time here!

Welcome to the AC Forums! And yeah, Nokia phones of yore were the best. I still remember grabbing my dad's and thinking you needed to be in close proximity to another phone to text haha. Silly me.

Thank you all for the Welcome :)

Ambassador Stargate asked about my posting about my using the phrase of designation for the Galaxy A5 (2017) like this. Have seen in other locations online that they (those other sites) call a Galaxy A5 just THAT. There is no (2017)addition. Yet depending on where you look online, there is a A5 & a A5 (2017) for some reason. Maybe it is a Canadian designation :p

^ I think there were two versions of the A5. The A5 (2017) would be the later version, much improved I believe, and with the year added to the designation in order to distinguish it from the original version. Such designations are used for various other devices.

Yeah, there are three main versions of the A5 (2015, 2016 and 2017) and, as usual with Samsung, several different configurations for each one of them. With Samsung it's not easy figuring out which model is in front of you. :)

Anyway, fake news!!! Hahaha.

Ah! Figured that sooner or later someone or somehow on this site I might get the answer to the date designation of the A5 👍
With the various app's we have now, my screensaver on my PC is comprised of pictures over the year's. There is just over 3+ year's alone of my daughter from birth upwards. In a few is my SGH-T469W & then a year or 2 later my SGH-T589W. Both were Samsung mobile device & had the Qwerty keyboard. My daughter being so young had no idea what she was getting a hold of if she did get 1 of those, yet the keyboards when I look at them never mind hold them just make's me admire how well built they were! Although now I wonder given the size how the ___did we text before these onscreen keyboards 🤤
Then I wander over to the Market area on this site & just read about the new features the new model's have. Beyond the new speeds, memory capacity, etc.
