New Message Categories

I wonder if Messages will learn which of my conversations with my work colleagues are considered "Business" and not "Personal." Right now the only threads that are considered Business are a couple of OTP texts and a prescription refill notification from Costco.
Yeah good question, my business customers are still in personal, i have orders in business ,like ups ,fed ex ,bank stuff it knows business

I'm kind of torn on that idea. My contacts labeled coworkers do still appear in the Personal list. I'm not sure if I want to see their texts in Personal or Business, I'm undecided. Some of the conversations are definitely business related and other times it is not work stuff and more personal chat. I could live with those being in either category, for me personally. I do like that all texts from my bank, water company, electric company, PayPal, and others show up as Business.

So is the concept of how it works in Messages based on if/how one organizes one's contacts into groups/categories, separately in the contacts app?

I was probably expecting Messages to interpret the content of a message thread. Now that I think about it more, it makes sense that the Business category is for texts sent from a Business, rather than those related to work.

That does make sense, good point.

It showed up for me the other morning, no app update. The new iMessage reactions did appear after an app update, but not Categories.

Google operates very strangely some (a lot?) of the time. I've had the iMessages reactions and categories for ages on my ancient pixel 3XL. I was surprised to see this thread ;) At least we can say Google doesn't forget about their older devices as soon as the new ones come out like other companies we could mention :p

In fact lately it's seemed to be the other way around
