New Microsoft Launcher Thread

Using it for a while and enjoying. Otherwise, I'll be back to the BlackBerry launcher
Newby here.
So, after the pain of setup the original screen, I hear about this launcher thing, I load it and start back over with setup. If I decide to change to something else for a minute, and then change back, do I have to start all over again or will it save the current setup. I'm still trying g to find out why these Launcher's are so great.
Thanks, Phil.

No you don't have to start over.
You can switch back and forth with launchers you've already installed.
Settings>apps>tap 3 dots upper right>tap default apps>tap home screen. There you will see whatever launchers you have installed. Just choose what you want.
Edit...many launchers have a backup/restore feature as well, so you can backup a layout you really love and have it reinstall on a new phone or if you have to reset your current phone for any reason.

The only problem I still can't figure out is how to change the double-tap lock screen to lock instead of going to a black screen for 5 seconds then locking (the option was there when I first configured the double tap preferences). Any suggestions?
As long as you don't have FPS to unlock enabled, you can lock immediately. If you've already got it set for the 5 second delay, just remove the gesture, go to general settings then restart launcher. Once restarted, go back into gestures to enable double tap to lock and it should show you the pic I'm posting.
The double tap is inconsistent for me so I use "pinch in" to lock.Screenshot_20180116-193114_Microsoft Launcher.jpg

Great feedback! I've been thinking about giving this launcher a go, as I currently use Nova on my Galaxy S8. I briefly tried Arrow Launcher a couple of years ago, but switched to Nova. A lot has changed with me.

I'm especially interested in Cortana integration. Googles VA has gotten GREAT reviews, however, I don't like the idea of having to sign away all my privacy rights (enable Google to record EVERYTHING indefinitely) in order to use it. Yes, I realize I have to give similar permissions to Microsoft, but I just think Google is super creepy by not enabling me to use their assistant locally.

I believe I can use Cortana locally on Windows Computers. I'm hoping I can do so on Android as well. I only want to use a voice assistant to call folks or send SMS. I have no interest in asking it do web things as I am perfectly able and willing to use the keyboard for such requests.

I am still using the microsoft Launcher. I would love for Microsoft to get rid of Google and have an android phone that has a MS store

I've mentioned that before. Microsoft should make an Android device with a Microsoft customized version. Microsoft could even make it look and feel like Windows 10 Mobile.

Cortana will easily make phone calls and send mms on your phone. She's not "always listening" though, like Assistant, so you have to physically tap a shortcut/microphone . I love that I can receive and respond to texts on my laptop with Cortana.
I do use Google Assistant for most voice commands because it's simply better integrated. Got an update for MS Launcher and it's finally integrated Cortana. I still love MS Launcher with or without Cortana.

how can you change the font and color of the widgets and apps applied to screen. Right now text is White

Yeah, I noticed Cortana isn't always listening so I'm probably not going to use it. I received a Bixby Update on my Galaxy S8 and my Bixby voice assistant appears to be working again which it wasn't for awhile. I will probably stick with Bixby since it does what I want. I find all of this VA stuff way OVERSOLD -- at least on phones. Some of my friends and family have Echo devices in their homes and they appear to be way more functional then any VA I have seen on computers or phones.

does anybody know where I can get the wallpapers this launcher uses? SO I can match it on my desktop.

Using ATM. Rotate between stock SE , Nova Prime and 1 random. Quite liking MS. Might even keep it going until my new note arrives in September.

I am using the Samsung native launcher on my S8. If using the Microsoft Launcher will it drain more battery? I read somewhere using an alternative launcher will always use more battery.

Don't notice any difference tbh.
As above switch often between SE , Nova Prime and a random one.
I am on a Note 8, but did same on my S8 and S8+.

I haven't noticed a noticeable difference in battery drain using Microsoft Launcher. I'm in the beta program so I get regular updates... Almost weekly.

Are you guys having problems in locks screen notifications? I suddenly cant see any of my whatsapp messages or normal messages in lock screen? Galaxy s8

Any way to add an empty page to the launcher. It looks like you have to pick up one of the preset types, Recent activities, freq used, people, etc.
I just want an empty page to add my own widgets or shortcuts. I cant believe that it's not possible ... is it?
